There are more than 80 scholarships available to Short Course students, over $125,000 was awarded for the 2009-2010 academic year.

These scholarships are offered by foundations, trust funds, organizations and private firms. Examples include the Freddy Gage Jr. Memorial Scholarship, Farm Credit Service Scholarships, Gall Memorial Scholarship, East Central/Select Sires Scholarship and the Cooperative Resources International Scholarship.

Any student eligible for Short Course and who submits financial information on their Short Course admission application will be considered for a scholarship. The application form can be found on the Apply page or you can click here. If you cannot access this form please contact our office by phone at (608) 263-3918 or e-mail at fisc@cals.wisc.edu. For university-administered scholarship consideration application materials must reach the Short Course director by April 1, 2010.

Short-term Loans & Financial Aid

Since the duration of Short Course is shorter than a regular academic year and doesn’t lead to an undergraduate degree, no federal financial aid is available through the Stafford Loan program.

However, a financial aid alternative for Short Course students is a short term loan available through the FISC office. Students may borrow up to $1,500 with up to six months after graduation to pay back interest free. After six months, interest fees will become effective on loan payments.

Veterans enrolled as full-time Short Course students with at least 18 clock hours (more if enrolled in lab courses) and are enrolled in a specialty program which they plan to finish in one year are eligible for Veterans benefits.
